About The Book

“Chaos reigns in the sleepy village of Aramoana on the New Zealand coast, when a series of shipping containers wash up on the beach and looting begins. Detective Constable Sam Shephard experiences the desperation of the scavengers first-hand, and ends up in an ambulance, nursing her wounds and puzzling over an assault that left her assailant for dead. What appears to be a clear-cut case of a cargo ship running aground soon takes a more sinister turn when a skull is found in the sand, and the body of a diver is pulled from the sea … a diver who didn’t die of drowning… As first officer at the scene, Sam handed the case, much to the displeasure of her superiors, and she must put together an increasingly confusing series of clues to get to the bottom of a mystery that may still have more victims…”

What I Thought

This is the third Sam Shepard book by Vanda Symon and you’ll know from previous reviews that I do love Sam Shepard. She’s tenacious and if you’ve read the other books you’ll known she’s eternally stubborn! That hasn’t changed here, she’s good at her job and always gets her man.. sorry always gets the bad guy in the end but I bloody well wish she’d pull the finger out and get her actual man! Her reluctance to give Paul any kind of answer was so frustrating and I am fully ‘with Maggie on this one Sam DON’T MESS THIS UP!!

The actual crime going on here was an interesting one, a sunken ship, looted containers, a murder, drugs and stolen antiques.. it had it all going on, but how does it all fit together? You’ll have to read to find out! A roller-coaster of a ride with so many twists and turns you won’t know what to expect! If you haven,t read the first two books in the series I would urge you to do so as they are brilliant but it’s also worth noting that Containment reads well as a stand alone too, if you can’t wait!
