About The Book

“Oslo, 2018. Former long-distance runner Sonja Nordstrøm never shows at the launch of her controversial autobiography, Always Number One. When celebrity blogger Emma Ramm visits Nordstrøm’s home later that day, she finds the door unlocked and signs of a struggle inside. A bib with the number ‘one’ has been pinned to the TV.

Police officer Alexander Blix is appointed to head up the missing- persons investigation, but he still bears the emotional scars of a hostage situation nineteen years earlier, when he killed the father of a five-year-old girl. Traces of Nordstrøm soon show up at different locations, but the appearance of the clues appear to be carefully calculated … evidence of a bigger picture that he’s just not seeing…

Blix and Ramm soon join forces, determined to find and stop a merciless killer with a flair for the dramatic, and thirst for attention.

Trouble is, he’s just got his first taste of it…”

What I Thought

Death Deserved final jacket

This is the first crime thriller I have read this year and I tell you the rest will have a lot to live up to. Usually I can pretty much nail who the killer is before the ending and I really thought I had it on this one so I was completely thrown when it was revealed. It did tie into another element of the story that I didn’t think too much of and had only questioned its significance at one point so it actually brought it altogether nicely for me. I know I’m being incredibly vague and that might be frustrating but there’s nothing worse than reading a review that gives everything away. I liked that we didn’t just see the police side to the story but the bloggers own investigations. Who said bloggers can’t solve crimes?! Short chapters, we all know by now I love short chapters so I could read a good chunk in one go, even still I took my time with it as I enjoyed how the story unfolded. A gripping read, highly recommend.
