The Wraith Is Back
Welcome to my stop on the RandomThingsTours blog tour for Slash by Hunter Shea.
About The Book
“Five years after Ashley King survived the infamous Resort Massacre, she’s found hanging in her basement by her fiancé, Todd Matthews. She left behind clues as to what really happened that night, clues that may reveal the identity of the killer the press has called The Wraith. With the help of his friends, Todd goes back to the crumbling Hayden Resort, a death-tinged ruin in the Catskills Mountains. What they find is a haunted history that’s been lying in wait for a fresh set of victims. The Wraith is back, and he’s nothing what they expected.”
What I Thought
I grew up in the era of Slasher flicks, I’ll never forget the first time I watched Halloween or Friday The 13th and only last week I re-watched Scream for the first time in years and it reminded me how good the slasher genre is. A nameless, faceless killer just killing apparently for the sake of it, often very gruesomely and no one can seem to stop them. There’s nearly always a reason behind the killings though but who is doing it, why are they doing it and how can they be stopped? I mean I dunno but Michael Myers came back an awful lot and I don’t think Jason ever went away..
Slash is the perfect name for this book because it is the very essence of a Slasher flick. I really enjoyed reading Slash I got such a thrill out of it and I read it over the Halloween week so that just added to the atmosphere as well.
It has a bit of trauma in it to begin with but sure what horror doesn’t and it’s Ashley’s tragic death that takes us back to Hayden.. back to where it all began, back to the Wraith. Ashley’s fiancé Todd needs to follow the clues to find out what really happened to her and their friends wont let him go alone. You can kind of see where this is going.. will they find out the truth and live to tell the tale?
A well thought out thrillingly gory ride. Perfect for these long dark nights.
