“It’s never too late to say I love you..”
Hello and welcome to the HarperCollinsIreland blog tour for Rewrite The Stars by Emma Heatherington.
About The Book
“From the moment they meet one December day there’s something between Charlotte Taylor and her brother’s best friend, Tom Farley. But fate isn’t ready to let them be together yet… Another five years pass before their paths cross again and this time, a tragic secret forces Charlie to make a choice. The years pass and Charlie moves on but she can never forget Tom. Can she leave the life she has built for one last chance? Or is the one that got away not really the one at all?”
What I Thought
This is a story about love, life and heartache. We learn that love isn’t always easy, life doesn’t always go our was and heartache is all a part of learning to find love. When Charlotte first meets her brothers friend Tom she instantly feels something and she’s sure he does too but it just isn’t meant to be. Years later she still thinks about him and even has a collection of songs about him. Is he the one that got away or just a young woman’s crush?
Then by chance they bump into each other on a snowy December night in a totally random place. They instantly connect but events from the past hold them back and while they plan to make a go of it the past rears it’s head and causes something to happen that pulls them apart again. Charlotte has a choice to make and she chooses to stay behind. Again the move forward and their lives take different directions. Charlotte finally feels happy in the life she has built around her although she always has that nagging sense of What If.. when suddenly she is surrounded by Tom again. She has to decide once and for all where her hear truly lies, is he the one that got away or was he ever really the one at all?
This would be a great read over the Christmas period, it’s light even though some parts are quite emotional. It’s relatable in that we all go through a point in our lives wondering What If? but we can never really know. Life if what you make it and you can keep looking back or else you will miss out on what’s right in front of you. A nice enjoyable read that made me ponder life and everything in it and left me with a smile and a warm cosy feeling.
