“If you’re out after dark, you’re already dead..”
“On winter solstice, the birds disappeared, and the mist arrived.
The inhabitants of Nebulah quickly learn not to venture out after dark. But it is hard to stay indoors: cabin fever sets in, and the mist can be beguiling, too.
Eventually only six remain. Like the rest of the townspeople, Pete has nowhere else to go. After he rescues a stranded psychic from a terrible fate, he’s given a warning: he will be dead by solstice unless he leaves town – soon.”
Ooo I really enjoyed this. It’s a highly atmospheric slow burner that reels you in and makes you care for the characters. The more you learn about them and their pasts the more you want to get them all out and keep them safe.
Soon brought to mind Stephen Kings The Mist, now I have never read that but I watched the Netflix series and enjoyed it. It’s that fear of the unknown, the unexplained.. what’s out there, why is it doing this, where did it come from, how did this happen, when will it stop?!
All of these questions and no one has any answers, no one wants to take any responsibility and the people left behind are left to fend for themselves. This was my kind of book, on the edge, creepy, unexplained spooky stuff. Perfect for this time of year!
Many thanks to Titan Books for sending me a copy of Soon to read and review, all opinions are my own and I am not paid to give them.
Sounds like a fun read. A new book. Never heard of it
