Taking Wing by Clemency Crow – Book Nook

Hiya! Welcome back to another review in Abigail’s Book Nook! Today I’m reviewing a book called Taking Wing. I got it from the author Clemency Crow, she sent me a really cool package!!

“12-year-old Freya enjoys karate and is the only one in her class who’s trusted with a part-time job. But everything changes when she meets a boy with yellow eyes. She learns about the guardians, and how an age-old fight has stopped them from fulfilling their purpose.
Freya finds new friends in the crow tribe but not everything in the castle is blissful. A destructive shadow lies within her and all she needs to do to summon it is close her eyes.
But as the guardian’s war rages on, Freya realises that, although the shadow’s power can be useful, it can’t create peace. Freya and her friends must solve the crime that began the war, but can they bring the guardians together before they destroy each other?”

This was my first time reading a book that an author has sent me so I was a bit nervous in case I didn’t like it but I loved this book! I wasn’t sure at first because it’s different to anything else I have read but once I started I got stuck in. It was so cool and surprising but coming up to the end of the book I was so shocked. Clemency, you have to make another Taking Wing book! Please you have to!!

My favourite character is Freya. At the start of the book I thought Freya would just stay all sensible, but no! She turned  into an awesome and more daring version of herself. Which is awesome! I just loved this so much and I love that Freya is nearly the same age as me just a bit older.

I hope you liked my review, thank you again Clemency and please please let me know if there will be another book!
