About The Book
“Myles Carver is dead. But his estate, Watermere, lives on, waiting for a new Carver to move in. Myles’s wife, Annabel, is dead too, but she is also waiting, lying in her grave in the woods. For nearly half a century she was responsible for a nightmarish reign of terror, and she’s not prepared to stop now. She is hungry to live again…and her unsuspecting nephew, Paul, will be the key. Julia Merrow has a secret almost as dark as Watermere’s. But when she and Paul fall in love they think their problems might be over. How can they know what Fate–and Annabel–have in store for them? Who could imagine that what was once a moldering corpse in a forest grave is growing stronger every day, eager to take her rightful place amongst the horrors of Watermere?”

What I Thought
Another cracker from Mr. Janz the Prince of horror (can you tell I’m a fan?) House Of Skin has elements of Siren and the Spectre and The Sorrows, he just knows how to get under your skin and keep you coming back for more!
A big ole creepy house just outside a town called Shadeland (creepy name) with a twisted history of lust and murder that no one seems to talk about but they sure aren’t letting it go. Paul has inherited the house from his Uncle Myles.. an uncle he has never met, an uncle that none of his family like to talk about and they pretty much disown Paul for choosing to take the house and leave his old life behind. Nobody in the town liked Paul’s uncle either and he soon begins to find out why..
You know by now that I am a fan of stories that look back into the past, building up a picture of the events leading up to the present so all boxes are ticked for me here, plus the creepy atmosphere, murder and general horror of it all.. love it! The title of the book will become apparent and it might put you off going for a shower so have one before you read it 😉
Overall this was a fun read for horror enthusiasts, I say fun but obviously in a horrifying way I just really enjoyed it, gotta love a Mr. Janz book!
Many thanks to Anne and FlameTreePress for having me on this tour, all opinions are my own and I am not paid to give them.
