One family. One month.
All they have to do is survive.
A family are taken to a secluded cabin hidden far out in the mountains, literally by the will of their dead father.. as in the wishes in his Will brought them there. They must spend a month there with no access to the outside world in order to claim their inheritance. Strange but sure what could go wrong? A break from the world with your family, food delivered regularly.. doesn’t sound so bad?.. Until even stranger things start happening and they realise that maybe it’s not quite as black and white as they thought.
“What if everything you knew about the people you loved was a lie?
After the death of their absentee father, Aaron and Bridge Quinlan travel to a vast rainforest property in the Pacific Northwest to hear the reading of his will. There, they meet up with their mother and troubled sister, Franny, and are shocked to discover the will’s terms: in order to claim their inheritance they must remain at the estate for thirty days without any contact with the outside world. Despite their concerns, they agree.
The Quinlans soon come to learn their family has more secrets than they ever imagined—revelations that at first inspire curiosity, then fear. Why does Bridge have faint memories of the estate? Why did their father want them to be sequestered there together? And what is out there they feel pulling them into the dark heart of the woods?”
I liked how this story evolved because I wasn’t expecting the outcome even though I knew something weird was going on. I would have liked to know more at the end about where the characters go from here but at the same time leaving it up to my own conclusions worked well too.
It wont be what you’re expecting which is a good thing so its definitely worth a read. A fantastically unnerving read that will keep you on the edge and constantly question what is really going on. I would like to read more from this author.
Many thanks to Simon & Schuster for sending me a copy to read and review, all opinions are my own and I am not paid to give them.
