About The Book

A century ago, a mysterious pulse of energy spread across the universe. Meant to usher in a new era of peace and prosperity, it instead destroyed technology indiscriminately, leaving some worlds untouched and throwing others into total chaos.

The Justified, a mysterious group of super-soldiers, have spent a hundred years trying to find a way to restore order to the universe. Their greatest asset is the feared mercenary Kamali, who travels from planet to planet searching for gifted young people and bringing them to the secret world she calls home. Kamali hopes that those she rescues will be able to find a way to reverse the damage the pulse wreaked, and ensure that it never returns.

But Kamali isn’t the only person looking for answers to unimaginable questions. And when her mission to rescue a grumpy teenaged girl named Esa goes off the rails, Kamali suddenly finds herself smack in the centre of an intergalactic war… that she started.

What I Thought

What a cracker of a book! You know I love a good sci-fi, a bit of an adventure through the galaxies with a feisty female lead and an epic space battle with fight to the death attacks. Hell yeah I am here for this!

The Stars Now Unclaimed is a big ass book jam-packed with short snappy chapters so you hardly even notice how quickly you’ll fly through this, as if you’re in hyper space. Its action packed with fantastic characters, everyone has a story to tell and you will be rooting for them all. I couldn’t believe it when I had finished reading, I just wanted more! I’m only delighted that there will be another book in the series out later this year, “A Chain Across The Dawn”, it’s going to be an absolute must read for me.

If you’re not used to reading sci-fi it can seem a bit daunting but even though this book is jam-packed with information the short chapters give you more time to absorb and process in between takes so you can really take your time and read it at your own pace, it’s so worth it. If you enjoyed the likes of Artemis and the Illuminae Files (which I fecking loved) you will enjoy this. After all who doesn’t love an epic space battle with a talking spaceship, explosions and things.. Hell Yeah!!

Many thanks to Harriett at Simon & Schuster for inviting me to take part in this tour, all opinions are my own and I am not paid to give them.

A Chain Across the Dawn, the new novel from Drew Williams is publishing in hardback on 8th August 2019.

Bigger spaceships. Bigger explosions. Bigger planets. Bigger problems.
