Savage-Species-ISBN-9781787581081.0

“Jesse thinks he’s caught a break when he, Emma (the girl of his dreams), and her friend are assigned by their newspaper to cover the opening weekend of a sprawling new state park. But the construction of the park has stirred an evil that has lain dormant for nearly a hundred years, and the three young people―as well as every man, woman, and child unlucky enough to be attending the Algonquin Falls grand opening―are about to encounter the most horrific creatures to ever walk the earth.”

What I Thought

Savage Species is an unapologetic gorefest that will satisfy all your monster needs. It was bloody brilliant with strong emphasis on the bloody! I don’t think I can ever look at a hamburger the same way again. As you’ll know from previous blog posts I really enjoy Jonathan Janz books and he really does provide for all horror needs, I’ve read about ghost terror, psychological terror and here we have all our monster terror. He really is a modern-day master of horror and I will read any book with his name to it because I know I will enjoy it. I say it every time but I’ll say it again his books would make great movies. I can see Savage Species on-screen, you’ve got the perfect setting a campsite out in the woods with no reception. Oh and did I mention the campsite I’d built on old Indian grounds? Then there’s the guy who mysteriously goes missing (well not mysterious to us) while working on the site but everyone just ignores it. Of course we’ve got a camp full of college kids ready to party, girls in bikinis, guys in togas.. TELL ME YOU CANT ENVISION THIS!! And of course the monsters.. oh did I forget to mention the monsters have kidnapped a baby too! It was just good old-fashioned gory fun which I delighted in. Highly recommended!

Again many thanks to Anne and FlameTreePress for having me on the tour, al opinions are my own and I am not paid to give them.
