Hello and welcome to the RandomThingsTours Blog Tour for The Sorrows by Jonathan Janz.
Many thanks to Anne for having me on this tour and to FlameTreePress for sending me a copy of the book.
“Something waits in the castle, trapped for nearly a century. Now it’s desperate to feed..”
About The Book
“The Sorrows, an island off the coast of northern California, and its castle have been uninhabited since a series of gruesome murders in 1925. But its owner needs money, so he allows film composers Ben and Eddie and a couple of their female friends to stay a month in Castle Blackwood. Eddie is certain a haunted castle is just the setting Ben needs to find inspiration for a horror film.
But what they find is more horrific than any movie. Something is waiting for them in the castle. A malevolent being has been trapped for nearly a century. And he’s ready to feed.”

What I Thought
Money, power, greed.. what drives men to take something beautiful and lock it away, abuse and use to their advantage, totally demonizing it until one day it’s too late and they really do have something demonic on their hands. Years and years later when money is yet again the driving force, the demon is awoken and people start to die. Haunted by the ghosts of their pasts whispering in their ears, visiting their dreams, until all hell breaks loose.
I think The Sorrows would make a great horror movie, it has everything you could ask for in a horror, a creepy atmospheric setting in the huge haunted castle with a gruesome past on a secluded island with no way of contacting anyone (slightly reminiscent of The Shining actually)! I mean what could possibly go wrong?
Then you have the scream queen stunner, the girl who just wants to work, the tortured musician and his get rich friend. The creepy sleazy movie maker and the failing heir up to his eyes in debt! Everything you could ask for really. But who will get out alive?
I should probably say that there is graphic content, violence and bad language, in case that’s not your thing.
Thanks again to Anne and FlameTreePress for having me on this tour, all opinions are my own and I am not paid to give them.
