Hello and welcome to my stop on the RandomThingsTours Blog Tour for Good Samaritans by Will Carver.
Many thanks to Anne for having me on this tour and to Orenda Books for sending me a copy of the book to review.
One Crossed Wire
Three Dead Bodies
Six Bottles Of Bleach
You know when a book opens with a quote from Fight Club that it’s going to be good! “When you have insomnia, you’re never really asleep. And you’re never really awake.”
About The Book
“Seth Beauman can’t sleep. He stays up late, calling strangers from his phonebook, hoping to make a connection, while his wife, Maeve, sleeps upstairs. A crossed wire finds a suicidal Hadley Serf on the phone to Seth, thinking she is talking to The Samaritans. But a seemingly harmless, late-night hobby turns into something more for Seth and for Hadley, and soon their late-night talks are turning into day-time meet-ups. And then this dysfunctional love story turns into something altogether darker, when Seth brings Hadley home… And someone is watching…”

What I Thought
I knew from the moment I started reading this book that I was going to enjoy it but I did not expect to have my mind so completely blown. It is so very cleverly written, pulling you in and in just a little bit more until you can’t go more than a moment without wanting to find out what happens next. It leaves so many avenues open so you still don’t quite know what’s going on or who the danger is until it starts to open up and reveal a bit more to you until you finally reach the end and are left utterly speechless by how it all came together.
I’m sitting here stunned that I have just read something so utterly brutal, clinically delivered to absolute perfection and I want to put it into the hands of the nearest person and tell them to read it and don’t stop until they finish it and then see their face when they get to that point and just say I KNOW! I want to gush over every word but I also want to lock it away and keep it to myself. I don’t know what to do with myself I’m so thrilled to have read this absolute genius bit of writing. I’m not going to tell you anything apart from the blurb because it’s something you need to discover, explore and unfold yourself. Come back to me after you do and then we can discuss!
A highly recommended read, it’s definitely going to be up there as one of my books of the year and considering I’ve read 81 others I think that says it all! Good Samaritans will be out in paperback on the 15th of Nov but you can get it now on Kindle.
Again many thanks to Anne and Orenda Books for having me on this tour, all opinions are my own and I am not paid to give them.
