A Breath After Drowning by Alice Blanchard @AliceBooks333 @TitanBooks

“Not all secrets can be buried.”

A highly anticipated read I had seen A Breath After Drowning doing the review rounds and the more I read and saw about it the more excited I was to read it. However I was also very nervous as sometimes when a book is hyped there is certain expectation there and they don’t always live up to what you’re hoping for. This was absolutely not the case, a fantastic read from start to finish. A huge thank you to Philippa from Titan Books for sending me out a copy.

” Sixteen years ago, Kate Wolfe’s young sister Savannah was brutally murdered. Forced to live with the guilt of how her own selfishness put Savannah in harm’s way, Kate was at least comforted by the knowledge that the man responsible was behind bars. But when she meets a retired detective who is certain that Kate’s sister was only one of many victims of a serial killer, Kate must face the possibility that Savannah’s murderer walks free.

Unearthing disturbing family secrets in her search for the truth, Kate becomes sure that she has discovered the depraved mind responsible for so much death. But as she hunts for a killer, a killer is hunting her…”

I was immediately sucked in and became deeply immersed, I was very upset when I was told I needed to put it down and actually sleep! Normally with thrillers that have a mystery killer I am very good at figuring out ahead of time who the killer is and I really thought I had it nailed with this one.. all figured out.. BUT NO I was totally wrong! This book really threw me for a loop and I LOVE that. I could read it again and still be surprised.

A Breath After Drowning is dark and gripping and it will keep you guessing right up to the end, your paranoia will be on high alert!

I loved Alice’s writing so much that when I saw on Twitter that she has another book, Darkness Peering, which opens up with a Poe quote and has a beautiful cover, I bought it on my Kindle straight away. Definitely an author to watch out for, keep those books coming Alice.
