August Round Up 2016

Books I Read:

  • Harry Potter and the Order of The Phoenix by J.K. Rowling
  • Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling
  • Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling and Jack Thorne
  • Nevernight by Jay Kristoff
  • A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
  • When We Collided by Emery Lord
  • I Hate Fairyland by Skottie Young
  • Lenore:Wedgies by Roman Dirge

I completed my Harry Potter marathon and ended it spectacularly by finally reading The Cursed Child, I really enjoyed it and you can read all my thoughts on it here. I followed that up with the absolutely amazing Nevernight by Jay Kristoff, this also got its own stand alone post here. In between the big reads I read the hilarious (and absolutely not suitable anywhere around kids) I Hate Fairyland by Skottie Young. This foul-mouthed little girl had me in absolute fits of laughter, followed by the classically morbid Lenore another cartoon short about a little dead girl.

A Court of Mist and Fury has left me with such a big book hangover, I desperately need the next book, I can’t say anything about it really for fear of spoiler but its safe to say if you haven’t read this and the first book YOU SHOULD! I quickly delved into When We Collided a story of love, friendship, grief and facing up to ones mental health issues, it took me back to my teens and made me realise that no matter how bad it gets things always get better, you just have to work at it.

Highlight of the Month

Nevernight, hands down an absolute must read I just couldn’t put it down and I have such an urge to read it again soon.

I feel like I had a very productive reading month but it made me fall behind on social media, specifically my bookstagram and blogging. Yet again I find myself struggling with balance between reading, writing and interacting. This month the kids have gone back to school and I’m working a lot more so I havent set myself a specific reading list, I’m just going to go with the flow because I’m fairly exhausted and some nights I just want to watch Bake Off and curl up into a ball. I would like to spend time colouring this month and relax my brain a bit, early nights are a must!

Did you read anything that really stood out to you in the last month and what are your plans for September?

  1. You were on a roll in August. I got no reading done with the run up to the new school term. Now that everything has settled in have my pile of books sorted to be read. Saw that you got the Little Prince, I love that book and Netflix have a film on it now so I must watch that to see their take on the book. Happy reading x

    1. I read so much in August that it left me with a book hangover lol haven’t done so well this month. I found reading the Harry Potters on the kindle much easier wasn’t so intimidating. I loved Nevernight so much I can’t wait for the next book 🙂
