May Round Up 2016

Books I Read:

  • Into The Forest (Prequel) by Freedom Matthews
  • The Lie Tree by Frances Hardinge
  • City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
  • Flawed by Cecelia Ahern
  • Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

I was very happy with all the reading I got through in May. The stand out books for me were definitely The Lie Tree by Frances Hardinge and Flawed by Cecelia Ahern. Both YA books the authors were a first for me. I had never heard of Frances Hardinge before but I am now a fan and have more of her books on my wish list now, her writing and imagery were very pleasing, with a dark side to it all. Recommended if you like something a bit different. Flawed is Cecelia’s first ever YA novel and I applaud her for stepping out of her usual comfort zone and writing from the heart, she had a story to tell and she did it so well. I couldn’t get enough of this book and am anxiously awaiting the next one, Perfect, which will be out in 2017.

City of Glass was a great read and continued my love affair with The Mortal Instruments. Into the Forest was an interesting one and I will want to read more when Inherited is released. As for Red Queen well I was a bit underwhelmed really, I liked it but I didn’t love it, I will read the next book to see if the story improves I just found it a bit slow. Have you read any of these books what did you think?

Book Haul:

Preloved:

  • Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
  • Hannibal by Thomas Harris
  • 11th Hour by James Patterson

New Books:

  • City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare
  • A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
  • A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

I surprised myself a bit with all the books I picked up this month, I got them throughout the month and it was only when I put them altogether I realised how many there were, to be fair the box sets where on a great deal and 3 of them were preloved so it’s all good 🙂

I was lucky to win a book on Twitter also, The Last Days of Summer by Vanessa Ronan

And I picked myself up am awesome new Hogwarts Journal on Book Depository and I’m using it as a book journal.

I don’t get to update the blog as often as I would like but I am active on Instagram in the Bookstagram community daily and I would love for you to keep in touch with me there @sarawimmreads.

  4. I haven’t tried any YA books, but have read and enjoyed a few of Cecilia Ahern’s other books. Looks like you’ve got plenty more books to keep you busy #readwithme
